So what does the Kriol Bible sound like? Here's Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd. Well those Bibles, Luther and Tyndale, helped launch English and German as languages of great literature. ![]() When you consider that Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German in just one year, in 1522, and that it took two years for Tyndale Tyndale to complete his English translation in 1525, it just shows what towering geniuses they were! And it's taken a team of missionaries and indigenous people working together 27 years to complete. It's a joint project of The Bible Society, Lutheran Bible Translators, The Church Missionary Society, the Anglican church, the Australian Society of Indigenous Languages and Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Kriol Baibul is, as the name suggests, in the Kriol language spoken by around 30,000 Aboriginal Australians. ![]()
